Professional Overview

I build patient-facing health technology, designed to engage patients. My experience can be summed up into three major skill areas: starting things, user-experience design / development, and health technology. I studied business and computer science with a focus on the design of user experiences at UC Berkeley.

Starting Things

I’ve been at the early stage of six different technology startups in the valley. Three of these I’ve founded or cofounded. I’ve worked with many different teams, with different funding situations, and helped design and launch many different products. I’ve held the role of programmer, UX designer, product manager, and now, CEO. For the startups I’ve founded, we’ve brought them each to different levels of funding: the first bootstrapped, the second accelerated, and the third, Crohnology, grant funded. User and customer success has climbed with each.

Year Company Role Time Funding
11-15 Crohnology Founder, CEO 4 years Grant
Started the company. Built prototype. Recruited founding team. Made major research partnerships. Speak and evangalize the product. Run fundraising, product design, project management, sales, operations, accounting, legal, more. Public face of company. Brought to sustainability.
10 MessageParty Cofounder, Head of Product 9 months Seed
Joined a coalescing team out of MIT prototyping a local social news aggregator for the college campus. Helped refine idea and product. Raised capital from Y-Combinator. Designed UI/UX, developed, and project managed implementation. Launched (to server-breaking user-ship) an iphone app that enabled messaging between anyone in the same location.
09 Outspokes Cofounder, Head of Product 5 months Bootstrapped
Immediately after college, cofounded this company with a couple Berkeley computer science classmates. We worked to bring a web development tool one of us had started to market. Found earlyvangelist and first customers, but struggled to get past beachead of early adopters to build a viable market.

UX Design & Development (Software)

I help technology startups build and design their software products. Sometimes through UX/UI design, prototyping, project/product management, front or back-end programming, you name it. Able to work wherever needed in the software product stack.
